Conversations About Wine, Farming & Reality – Our 2025 Podcast Episodes

In 2025, we had the pleasure of stepping a little outside our cellar and into the world of conversation, welcoming two podcast hosts to talk about Baron Longo, biodynamic farming, and what it really means to make wine in South Tyrol today.

From “good despite organic” to “good because organic” - with Auf ein Glas

In our conversation with Ulrich van Stipriaan on “Auf ein Glas”, we reflected on how the perception of organic and biodynamic wine has changed - in South Tyrol and beyond.

Where organic wines were once seen as niche, they are increasingly understood as wines that are compelling because of their farming. We spoke about working with living soils, vineyard balance, and a holistic view of the landscape - from the Adige Valley around Egna up to Montagna in the Trudner Horn Nature Park - and how biodynamic farming functions as a daily practice of observation rather than a rigid system.

Choosing the path of responsibility - with Foodtalker

In the Foodtalker podcast with Boris Rogosch, the conversation was more personal and candid.

Anton spoke about the decisive moment of choosing to make wine himself instead of leasing the estate - without a master plan, but with a willingness to take responsibility. The discussion touched on learning curves, difficult decisions, and the search for grape varieties that truly fit our sites. Today, the focus lies mainly on Chardonnay, Weißburgunder, and Lagrein at Baron Longo in South Tyrol/Alto Adige.

We also talked about biodynamic work in the vineyard as something that evolves through daily practice - and about the business side of wine: investments, cellar work, branding, pricing, and distribution. As Anton put it clearly: “If you make wine, you also have to sell it.”
