Winemaking process
Varieties:
A pure South Tyrolean Lagrein – bold and expressive. Known for its deep color, rich dark fruit, and spicy notes, with firm yet elegant tannins and vibrant acidity that reflect its alpine heritage.
Terroir:
A Lagrein with character and elegance – grown in a 30-year-old southwest-facing vineyard around the Schlossberg at 270m above sea level. Calcareous glacial soils give it depth, while spontaneous fermentation in open oak vats and ageing in tonneaux ensure expression and balance.
Vinification:
Spontaneous fermentation in large oak barrels, maturation in tonneaux.
Opinion
Anton Felix Longo
"A powerful, expressive red with depth and elegance. Dark berry fruit, spice, and fine tannins make it ideal for hearty dishes.
Hold & drink later."
The 20 hectares of the biodynamically cultivated vineyards of Baron Longo are located in South Tyrol’s south, around the picturesque Castelletto in Egna. The vineyards range from 240 metres a.s.l. up to Montagna, in the Trudner Horn Nature Park, where Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes thrive. The main varieties produced by the family winery are Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Cabernet. As a winemaker, Anton Baron Longo concentrates on wines that are distinguished by their elegance.
