The WineHunter Award 2026: Nine Awards for Baron Longo

Baron Longo, our family-run winery in Neumarkt/Egna in South Tyrol, has received nine distinctions at The WineHunter Award 2026, spanning different vineyards, grape varieties and vintages. Among them is a wine that holds a particularly important place in our story: Liebenstein 2015, selected as a candidate for the Platinum Award.

The recognition comes at a meaningful moment for Baron Longo. The 2015 vintage marked the beginning of a new chapter for our estate, when Anton Felix von Longo-Liebenstein began producing wine under the family name again. More than a decade later, seeing a wine from those early years recognised today is a reminder of how much a bottle can reveal when it is given time.

Liebenstein has accompanied Anton throughout this journey. The 2015 vintage is a cuvée of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay, two varieties that continue to play a defining role at Baron Longo today. After more than ten years of bottle ageing, the wine has developed far beyond its beginnings while retaining the clarity and elegance that we look for in our white wines.

Nine wines across the Baron Longo estate

The results of The WineHunter Award 2026 extend far beyond a single bottle. Liebenstein 2021, Solaris 2016, Solaris In Toldo de Kasnan 2025 and Felix Anton Rosato 2025 received WineHunter Gold, while Felix Anton Lagrein 2023, Wellenburg 2020, Urgestein 2024 and Schlossberg 2024 were also recognised with WineHunter Awards.

Together, the awarded wines tell a much broader story of the estate. They come from different vintages and sites, and represent both white and red varieties. Some are young and immediate expressions of their origin; others demonstrate what our wines can become after years of maturation.

Our vineyards extend from the valley floor around Neumarkt/Egna to 1,050 metres above sea level in the Trudner Horn Nature Park, shaped by very different elevations, exposures and soils. Working biodynamically across these sites means allowing those differences to remain visible rather than trying to make every vineyard speak in the same voice.

For us, the nine WineHunter distinctions are therefore not simply nine individual awards. They recognise wines made across different moments in the evolution of Baron Longo – including one that has been quietly waiting in our cellar for more than a decade.

And perhaps that makes the Platinum nomination for Liebenstein 2015 particularly fitting.

Some wines simply need time.
